Exploitation, Displacement, and Criminalization: the Stories of Asian Pacific Islander Immigration
Trina Lei Pasumbal and Madison Villanueva, ASPIRE LA
This workshop will discuss the criminalization of immigrants with a specific focus on the undocumented Asian Pacific Islander community. Topics will include the model minority, the DREAMer narrative, and deportations. Our goal is to tell some untold stories about the API community, specifically the criminalization of immigrants throughout history and currently today. We believe it would benefit the API community because it would raise awareness about these issues that are currently going on.

Come join us as we share our journey through the class with you and offer a glimpse of our experiences by engaging you in an interactive role-playing activity followed by a brief self-reflection.
